Andriy Shevchenko announced as Ukraine Head Coach

AC Milan’s legend Andriy Shevchenko has been announced as Ukrainian football Head Coach.

The appointment is Shevchenko’s first as a manager, and he’d be hoping to win as much as he did as player. The former AC Milan striker replaces Mykhaylo Fomenko, who resigned after failing to win a single game at the 2016 UEFA European Championships.

The retired Ukrainian footballer who played for Dynamo Kyiv, Milan, Chelsea and the Ukrainian national team as a striker has appointed former AC Milan defender Mauro Tassotti as one of his coaches backroom staff.

Shevchenko who won the 2004 Ballon D’Or enjoyed an amazing playing carrier at AC Milan and Dynamo Kiev, and scored 48 goals in 111 appearances for the national team. The ex Chelsea player won 5 league titles with Dynamo Kiev, and a Champions League with AC Milan.

His contract reportedly expires after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

French Ligue 1 to Introduce VAR in 2018/19 Season

French Ligue 1 to Introduce VAR in 2018/19 Season

The French Ligue 1 will become one of the top flight leagues to introduce the Video Assistant Referee, VAR next season.

The board of the Ligue de Football Professional on Thursday voted in support of the bill that will see the new system used in the 2018/2019 campaign of Ligue 1 just like La Liga would too.

That means that a center referee will have to review a video footage in the case of goals, penalty calls, straight red cards and mistaken identity for bookings or dismissals.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) must endorse the use of video technology before the LFP can implement the video assistant referee system permanently. IFAB is expected to deliver a verdict at its annual meeting in early 2018.
