Over 1 Billion iPhones sold since 2007

American multinational technology company Apple has reportedly sold over one billion iPhones since the first model of the device was lunched in 2007.

This was confirmed by Apple CEO Tim Cook at an Apple employee meeting in Cupertino on 31-07-2016.

“iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history. It’s become more than a constant companion. iPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day“, said CEO Tim Cook.

“Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day.” He added

Apple would wish to bounce back with the new iPhone widely reported for release in the coming months as they have experienced poor sales in the last two quarter.

The digital currency Bitcoin has continued to soar in price as a result of increased attention and investors as it’s value rises above $14,000.

Bitcoin started off the year below $1,000, then surpassing it and only last week reached $10,000. Despite the warnings from renowned economists and business leaders, its has continued to appreciate in value.

In Asia, it surpassed two milestone $12,000 and $13,000 within 24 hours on Thursday before skyrocketing to the sum of $14,000 per coin. In Hong Kong, the coin traded around $14,200 after briefly nosediving below $13,400.

Bitcoin has however suffered a series of depreciation this year, a reminders of its extreme volatility after it’s sharp dive to $2,000 per coin from  $11,000 last week before it continued it’s climb.

The rapid rise in value of the e-Currency this year has been attributed to the projection that established fund managers might start investing heavily into the virtual currency as it gains legitimacy.

Bitcoin is one of many cryptocurrencies, virtual “coins” that are “mined” by computers using complex algorithms.
