FIFA suspends Sudan Football Association
FIFA has suspended the Sudan Football Association (SFA) starting 6 July.

FIFA’s letter to the SFA reads;
“We are obliged to inform you that the SFA is suspended in accordance with the decision of the Bureau of the FIFA Council,” said part of the letter addressed to the SFA General Secretary Magdi Shams Eldin and signed by the FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura.

The letter also clearly states that the suspension means Sudan lose all its membership rights as defined in article 13 of the Fifa statues.

“The Sudan Football Association representative and club teams are no longer entitled to take part in international competitions until the suspension is lifted,” added the letter.

The sanction disqualifies Sudan’s top sides Al Merreikh and Al Hilal Omdurman that were meant to battle in CAF Champions League matches against Etoile Du Sahel and Ferroviario Da Beira respectively on Friday (8 Jul).

Similarly, Sudan side Hilal Obayed that already qualified for the quarterfinal stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and is meant to face Zambia’s Zesco United on Saturday are also disqualified.

The matches can only go ahead if Sudan agree to FIFA’s demands on Friday hours before the matches.

“The suspension would only be lifted once the decree of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice of 2 June 2017 is declared null or void and the Board of Directors of the SFA with its President, Dr Mutasim Gaafar Sir Elkhatim is reinstated” read the letter.

Two rival groups have been claiming to run affairs of the Sudan Football Association (SFA) although FIFA only recognises the one run by Mutasim Gaafar Sir Elkhatim.

But on 2 June Mutasim’s executive was forcefully evacuated from the premises by reportedly government. The evacuation was reportedly enforced through a decree from the undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice. After the evacuation the rival body under Abdel Rahman Sir Elkatim was allowed to occupy the headquarters.

In April this year, Abdel-Rahman Sir Elkhatim reportedly won the SFA elections few days after Fifa had ordered the suspension of the elections for six months. Mutasim Gaafar Sir Elkhatim reported the matter to Fifa claiming the election was illegal.

But on 13 June Fifa sent a delegation to Khartoum in an effort to reach a solution and met the two disputing groups and the Minister of Youth and Sport, Abdel-Karim Musa. But the two bodies including the Minister did not agree to the direction the Fifa officials were reportedly taking.

Last Friday the two rival parties in Sudan and the Ministry of Youth and Sports met, but failed to take action as was requested by FIFA.

part of the articles was culled from ESPN.

Chelsea intensifies Andy Carroll Chase

Reports making the rounds today reveals that Chelsea are hugely interested in signing Andy Carroll from West Ham this month.

The Premier League champions has suffered a third successive goalless draw, for the first time in their history, against Leicester City on Saturday seems to have lost faith in Álvaro Morata.

The Spaniard has scored only twice in the top flight since mid-November and has gone five games without a goal.

Antonio Conte has now turned to Carroll for rescue as the Italian man continues to be reluctant to play Michy Batshuayi who will possibly be going on loan to Sevilla if a replacement can be secured.

Andy Carroll signed for West Ham from Liverpool in 2013 for £15m, and has seen his impact limited by injury in the years since.

Verge24 understands that the move for Chelsea signing Carroll may be a short-term solution before a summer recruitment drive, and West Ham would take some persuasion to part with Carroll on a six‑month loan deal.

David Moyes suggested last week that he would not want to see any of his forwards depart. Yet that may not dissuade Chelsea from exploring the option, reflecting the need to pep up the forward line amid a cluttered schedule.

Kelechi Iheanacho Going Nowhere – Claude Puel

Leicester City coach Claude Puel has dismissed speculation of his £25 million striker Kelechi Iheanacho leaving due to lack of playing time this January.

Puel refused to write off the former Manchester City forward, who has found the back of the net just once for the club this season.

Kelechi Iheanacho signed for Leicester in the summer from Manchester City but has made just two Premier League starts for the foxes.

The Nigerian Super Eagles attacking forward is expected to be on his way out of the club for a possible playing time in a quest to guarantee his place in the team to represent Nigeria in Russia later this year.

Last week, Nigeria national team handler Gernot Rohr said that he expects Iheanacho and his teammate Ahmed Musa to leave the King Power Stadium because of their lack of playing time, Puel has however dismissed any exit talk. According to him;

“We don’t know about what the national trainer said. We will see. We have discussions with different players. For example Iheanacho is a young player, arrived this season, and he will stay with us.

“I cannot talk about details about players. It is important to have a good balance in the team and have a good game time for the players.

“Iheanacho is a young player, he signed this season with us and we have to develop him. I hope he can have more game time in the second half of the season.”

He is a young player who arrives in a good team where there is competition and he needs to keep working and improve.”

Leicester will visit Chelsea on Saturday in the Premier League with Jamie Vardy fit after a groin injury.
