Court Awards N2m to Evans’ brother-in-Law over Wrongful Arrest & Detention

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has awarded N2,000,000 in damages to Mr. Okwuchukwu Obiechina, the brother-in-law of suspected kidnapper Evanns over wrongful police arrest and detention.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Mohammed Idris said that Obiechina’s arrest and detention by the police was unconstitutional.

Mr. Obiechina and his wife, Nzube last week challenged their illegal detention by the police, claiming they had been in detention since June 2 because of their relationship with Evans.

According to reports, the couple had listed the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, the Nigeria Police and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) as co-respondents to the suit.

Evans, was re-arraigned before the Igbosere High Court this morning 21/10/2017 before his case got adjourned.
