Nicolas Otamendi talks Kelechi Iheanacho Face-off

One of the major highlights in the encounter between Nigeria vs Argentina was the face-off between Manchester City defender, Nicolas Otamendi with his former teammate Kelechi Iheanacho in Russia on Tuesday.

Otamendi shocked the world of football after he reacted was over the top by angrily shoving Iheanacho aside when the Nigerian forward tried to apologise after accidentally elbowing the Argentine in the face at the course of an aerial duel in the early stages of the game. However, his reaction was met with a cool smile by the Nigerian who was shown a yellow card for the foul.

Reacting to the incident, Otamendi told Argentine sports channel;

“He (Iheanacho) caught me with his elbow and I didn’t like it, maybe my reaction was a bit over the top, but we are cool. He apologize and we have both moved on.”

“The defeat is positive because it means there are things to improve; we will try to correct the things that were done wrong and to do better in the next friendly matches in preparations for the World Cup.” He added.

The Super Eagles came from behind to defeat Argentina 4-2 with Iheanacho scoring a rare free kick and providing two assists.

Oscar Pistorius involved in prison fight; Injured

Oscar Pistorius involved in prison fight; Injured

Jailed South African athlete Oscar Pistorius was reportedly involved in a brawl in prison and has been hurt, less than two weeks after his sentence for the killing of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was more than doubled.

Pistorius was allegedly involved in a fight over the use of a public phone, a prison department spokesman ingabakho Nxumalo told the BBC.

The amputee who was jailed for 13 years and five months, only sustained minor bruises, No other serious injuries were reported, the spokesman said. IN his words;

“It is alleged that he was involved in an altercation with another inmate over the use of a public phone in the special care unit where both offenders are detained at Attridgeville Correctional Centre,”.

Investigation has been launched to “establish the facts and to ensure that appropriate action is taken as incidents of assaults are not allowed”, Nxumalo said.

The widely reported brawl took place on 6 December, 10 days after South African prosecutors successfully argued Pistorius’ “shockingly light” six-year sentence should be increased.

BREAKING: Senator Ayo Arise Kidnapped

Senator Ayo Arise whom we reported days ago was kidnapped by unknown gunmen while on his way to Abuja has regained his freedom.

As at the time of this publication, details of his release hasn’t been made public as a result who can state if if any ransom was paid.

It was speculated that the kidnappers has reduced their demand from N80 million naira to N50 million naira. However, the President of Oye Progressives Union which is the Umbrella Association of the Indigenes of Oye, Mr. Akin Omole, confirmed the release of the All Progressives Congress chieftain. in his words;

“Yes, I’ve heard from him and he told us that he has regained his freedom. We are immensely grateful to God Almighty and to everyone who acted one way or the other for his release,” he said in a telephone chat with newsmen.

Oye Ekiti is highly grateful and we are saying thank you. OPU on behalf of the Oye Ekiti community is grateful to everyone who contributed in several ways towards ensuring that our illustrious son is freed without being harmed,”.

 

Arise was kidnapped on Sunday along Okene-Abuja highway while traveling back to Abuja from his country-home in Oye-Ekiti.
