Arsenal 1:3 Manchester United: Lingard, De Gea stars, Pogba see Red

David de Gea‘s super saves and a fantastic Jesse Lingard double powers Manchester United to a 3-1 victory at Arsenal, the victory was however soured by Paul Pogba’s red card.

Antonio Valencia found the back f the net at the 3′ minute and Lingard doubled the lead in the 11′ as United got off to a perfect start, but Arsenal were back in it early in the second half through Alexandre Lacazette (49).

Lingard once again gave United’s two-goal lead in the 63′ minute before Pogba saw red for a stamp on Hector Bellerin, which means the France international will miss next Sunday’s derby with Manchester City – live on Sky Sports Premier League.

Arsenal failed to break down a resolute 10-man United late on, with De Gea producing 14 saves in total, a joint-record in the Premier League since records began in 2003-04.

The result also sees Arsenal’s perfect home record this season come to an end, while United put the pressure back on leaders City ahead of their match at home to West Ham on Sunday.

Romelu Lukaku Leads Manchester United into FA Cup quarter-finals

Manchester United has booked their place  in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday night.

It was more of a “Monkey working while the baboon eats” and a night of VAR controversy after Juan Mata’s goal was ruled out .

Romelu Lukaku found the back of the net  just three minutes after kick off and the second just after the break (55) – but it was Mata’s disallowed effort for which the game will be remembered for.

With VAR in use, Mata thought he had made it 2-0 just before half-time when breaking in behind and finishing past Jonas Lossl. However, after a big delay and confusion with the VAR pictures, Kevin Friend ruled out the goal as Mata’s knee was marginally offside despite the lines used by VAR not looking straight.

Huddersfield enjoyed plenty of possession and registered 19 shots on goal but United’s defence – marshalled by the excellent Chris Smalling – kept their eighth clean sheet from their last 10 matches.

Red Hot Liverpool hands Porto a Heavy Defeat; Mane With a Hat-Trick

A red hot Liverpool FC defeated FC Porto whom hasn’t lost a game in 24 matches in all competitions.

Sadio Mane scored a hat-trick to put Liverpool in full control after thrashing Porto 5-0 in Champions League last-16 tie after the first leg in Portugal.

Mane first found the back of the net after 25 minutes in a hugely one-sided clash when his shot squirmed underneath Jose Sa.

Mohamed Salah’s clever finish – his 30th goal of the season in all competitions – made it 2-0 shortly afterwards before Mane and Roberto Firmino both scored on the counter in the second half.

The return leg takes place at Anfield on March 6, but Liverpool’s progress now looks a formality and they may even rest players ahead of their clash with Manchester United later that week.
